Oceanside Pier May 8, 2021

Patti picked me up to cheer me up and we went to sketch in Oceanside. She said in the middle of the road to stop traffic while I hobbled across. We sat on benches in the sidewalk behind the pier and just enjoyed the day. Sketching was incidental. We are catfish sandwiches at Miss Kim's That Boy Good (weird name).

San Diego Botanical Gardens

July 30, 2020 I helped start an urban sketching group in North County which ended up having about 10-12 people in it. Patti joined and my first trip to the San Diego Botanical Garden was with this group. We were all masked because it was early days of Covid  What a beautiful place! Trails wind through flanked by indigenous plants, trees, and flowers. My favorite spot is a pond full of koi with lily pads floating on top like crowning jewels if color. It's a peaceful quiet spot tucked into a little forested area. I don't remember if I painted anything that day or if Patti and I just assumed through. I bought a season pass to come back but Covid had already started in March. Covid got worse and the park shut down for a while. That's ended up being one of only two times I went. The second was with Dwight.

Kate Sessions Park

March 31, 2020 Patti and I went for a drive to Chula Vista to see Richard Mooberry's boat but never made it. We ended up in a beautiful park overlooking most of San Diego. It was lush and green with rolling hills. There weren't many people there and the weather was lovely. We sat on a bench in the shade of a large tree and sketched what we saw below us towards Mission Bay. I included the three friends sitting together in front of us  Great time!
